Key Verse: Psalm 86:11

“Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name.”

I am the type of person that enjoys learning knew things. I believe that is one of the reasons why I enjoy reading. Other then my Bible, I enjoy reading, Christian books, CIA, Thrillers, and even news articles. However, my favorite books are those in which I learn something new. Even if you don’t like to read, all of us should enjoy learning knew things, and one thing we should seek to learn more than anything else is God’s way. This is what David asks in Psalm 86. He asks God to teach him His way. I believe that a great many of us fail to live like Jesus and honor God in this life because we don’t allow God to teach us how to live like Him. We quench the work of the Holy Sprit in our lives. David knows that being taught by God is required in order for him to walk in truth. So how can we be taught by God so that we better obey His commands?

We have to ask Him to teach just as David does, but the majority of the time God teaches us through His Word. As a result of this a great habit to start is to ask God to speak before and after you read your Bible. When you do this, you are no longer viewing your Bible time as an academic exercise. Rather you see this as God’s primary teaching method through the Holy Spirit. Friend, when you do this, I can tell you from personal experience that God will speak to you through His Word. So today, start asking God to teach you His way! As he does this, you will find that you will begin living more like Jesus!
