Key Verse: Hebrews 11:15 “And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return.” Hebrews 11 is an awesome chapter. It is often referred to as the faith chapter or the hall of faith. In this chapter the author shows how those in the Old Testament overcame a variety of situations through faith in God’s promises. In V.15 the author speaks concerning how all these people refused to call to mind the country from which the had come. Perhaps the two people on the forefront of the author’s mind was Abraham and Sarah who left their homeland to travel to a place that God would show them. He says that they refused to think back on where they once were. They didn’t give themselves the opportunity to return to their old home and their old ways of life, because they refused to look back. He says that if they had looked back they would’ve have opportunity to return. Instead, Abraham and Sarah chose to live by faith and focus on the promises of God, not on the fleeting pleasures this world offers. They didn’t look back. I believe that a great number Christians fall back into the sinful lifestyles of their past because they look back. Oftentimes we are guilty of thinking of what it was like when we did this or did that. Instead of remembering what it was like when we were gratifying the sinful lusts of the flesh instead we must live by faith. We must look to the future, and look to God to fulfill his wonderful promises that He has given us. WE have a hope and future because of the work of Jesus, and that which God is calling us to and where He is calling us is far better and far greater then anything this world can offer. It’s time for us to stop looking back and start looking forward with an attitude of faith in what God has for us! BE a man or woman of faith today!!
