Key Verse: Hebrews 2:18 “For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.” Every person that has ever lived along with every person that will live will face temptation. The defining moments of our life often hinge on what we do in the face of temptation. The biggest regrets of my life have stemmed from my inability to say no in the face of temptation, and the greatest triumphs of my life have resulted in my ability to say no to temptation. However, all of us, including myself fail. There are times when our faith falters. There are times when we feel as if we cannot possibly overcome the attacks of the devil. It is during these times that we must remember what the Bible says in Hebrews 2:18. In this awesome verses of Scripture we are reminded that Jesus also suffered due to temptation. This means that He knows exactly what we are going through when the devil throws his darts our way. The difference between us and Jesus however is astounding. Although Jesus faced temptation, He never once gave into the enemies attacks. He overcame every temptation that came His way. As a result, He is the one we should run to when temptation comes our way. Jesus knows how to overcome the vicious attacks of the devil and here’s the beautiful truth of this verse. He is ready and willing to help us do the same thing. The author says, “he is able to give aid to those who are tempted.” The problem with many of us is that we don’t run to Jesus when temptation rears its ugly head in our life. Instead we dwell on it, try to fight it with earthly weapons, or we just immediately give in. We all must turn to Jesus when we face temptation. He is a loving and compassionate savior who is ready and willing to help us deal with the various temptations we face in our life. So next time you are tempted cry out to Jesus in prayer and open your Bibles and read the words of Jesus! You will be strengthened if you do so!
