Key Verse: Matthew 5:5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” As Jesus continues telling us the types of people who are truly blessed He says that those who are meek are blessed. I believe that many people do not really understand what biblical meekness is. Many people equate meekness with weakness. They believe that one who is meek is one who has no backbone and never stands up for oneself. This is not what meekness is at all. When one studies how meekness is used in the original Greek language of the New Testament they will discover that meekness is one of the most difficult qualities to attain but also one of the most rewarding fruits to have the Holy Spirit produce in your life. Biblical meekness is the ability to accept God’s Will when it seems to be good for and also when it seems to be bad for you. Meekness is the ability to say ok God I am going to trust even when it’s difficult, or even when your I am not sure what You are doing. It is worshipping God even when things seem to not be in your favor. I have found some of the strongest Christians have mastered meekness. Jesus says these people are blessed. What makes a meek person blessed? They are blessed because they will inherit the earth according to Jesus. This means that those who have true meekness will rule and reign with God. They have a heavenly inheritance. Meekness is one of the surest ways to know that you have a relationship with God. Because meekness and the ability to accept God’s will and worship Him anyways does not come natural. It is the result of the Holy Spirit working in your life. What about you today? Are you meek? Are you the type person to pray for God’s Will to be done, and accept it with faith no matter what? That’s meekness, and I want to invite you to pray right now for God to make you meek! The meek are blessed!
