Key Verse: 1 Peter 5:7

“casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”

Life is stressful. No matter what job you have or where you live, life is just stressful at times. Some jobs more than others, some spouses and kids more than others, but life is stressful for every person. I have had people tell me that oftentimes they fall into sin when they are the most stressed. The reason for this is due to the fact that when we are stressed we look for something to ease our mind, and sometimes people will fall back into sinful patterns due to the temporary pleasure it gives. However that temporary pleasure only adds to the stress and worry in the long run, because after the sin comes the guilt, regret, and sorrow. Here Peter reminds us that when we are stressed we must turn to God and cast all of our stress, anxieties, and worries onto God. Being the fisherman that I am everytime I hear the word cast I think of throwing a bait towards an area where I believe a big bass where be hiding. In a similar sense if we will to truly overcome our stress and anxiety, we have to cast them onto God. Only then can we truly deal with our stress. By reverting back to sinful behavior we are not working through the stress and anxiety, we are simply trying to numb the pain. By casting them on God we are relying on God’s care, and power to help us through the difficult time.

How do we cast all our cares on Him? We do it through real heartfelt prayer. If your reading this today and you are overwhelmed by stress, I invite you to take a few moments and have a real time of prayer with the Father. When we do this and we are honest with God something supernatural happens. Paul reminds of this in Philippians 4:6-7. He reminds us that we give all of our anxieties to God, He will give us a peace that surpasses all understanding and it guards our hearts and mind! Don’t let stress and worry dominate your life!! Give it to God, because He cares for you!
