Key Verse: Isaiah 6:8 

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.””

In Isaiah 6, Isaiah has a vision from the Lord. In this vision he sees God on the throne, and sees some of the beings in Heaven worshipping Him. Then suddenly the Lord asks “whom shall I send?” Isaiah’s response is simple yet extraordinary. He says here am I! Send me! Isaiah shows his availability by saying, ‘here am I! send me.’ He also shows his willingness to go and to do whatever God has for him because at this point God has not even mentioned where Isaiah will be going nor what He will be doing. Yet Isaiah is still

willing. Here we have the two necessary characteristics for a servant of God. They are availability and willingness. 

I believe that many us fail in serving the Lord because we do not make

ourselves available. We have so many extra curricular activities that when God says who will I send, we say Not I Lord, do not send me. The reason is because our calendars are too full. We have too many things to do such as sports, work, meeting up with friends, other hobbies, and relaxing. At the end of the day, week after week, we have no time to serve God and the reason is because we have chosen to use our time to serve the things we would rather be doing. Many Christians think that by going to church twice per month this shows that are very dedicated to the Lord. If all you can do is give God 2 hours a month if your time your dedication is lacking. I want to challenge you to make yourself available while also being willing to serve wherever God sends. Many of us need to be more willing to serve wherever there is a need. If we will be available and willing God will give us ample opportunities for service. Clear your calendar a little to help make you available!
