Key Verse: Philippians 3:15 “Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.” I have met Christians who truly believe they have reached the peak of Spiritual growth. They seem to think that they have nothing else to learn, nothing else to do, and nothing else to strive after in the regards to growing closer to God. It seems possible that there were some Christians like this at Philippi. Paul just got done writing about how he has not yet reached his ultimate goal of finishing his race, and meeting Jesus face to face. When he writes that those of us who are spiritually mature willl have this mind, he is referring to the idea of always striving to be more Christlike, always reaching ahead for what Christ would have you to do next. I can tell you from personal experience that the moment you get stagnant, satisfied in your walk with God failure and sin is right around the bend. We must never become prideful and Arrogant about our spiritual walk and begin to think that we have arrived. None of us arrived. There are always new truths to learn about God and principles to discover in His word. There are always new places to serve in the church. There are always people who need to hear the gospel. There are always improvements we need to make in our sanctification process. There is always work to be done as we serve the Lord in every area of our life. Part of being a mature Christian is understanding that in this life we we will never arrive at our destination, and that we are always to be at work and reaching for the next truth, principle, or person God has for us to learn or impact. If you have read this devotional this morning and you are guilty of thinking that you have arrived, and because of this you’ve become content with where you are, you need to repent and ask God to change your mind and heart. Then start looking for what God has for you!
