Key Verses: Romans 15:5-6 “Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded towards one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Last night was the third night of revival at Concord Baptist Church. I preached from Philippians 2 and spoke about unity through humility. Here in Romans 15 the theme is very similar, and anyone who has been in church for any length of time understands the importance and difficulty of unity. In V.5 Paul asks that God would grant us like mindedness towards one another. By asking that God grant us this, this seems to be something that Paul prayed for regularly. Everyone of us needs to pray for this as well. We should consistently pray that God give us as His church ‘one mind.’ What does it mean to have one mind? It means that we all share a common goal. What is the goal that we all as individuals must have if we are going to have one mind? The goal is that through our one mind, we speak one message that God would be glorified. It is impossible for us a church to be united in proclaiming the gospel and growing spiritually with one another if we don’t have the same mind. We must have one goal. That goal being glorifying God. If we can all have this one goal, we will be a church that is united. And it is unified church that brings glory to God as they serve and glorify Him. Would you please pray that God would give us as a church like mindedness so we can be a church that brings Him glory?
