Don’t Stop Doing the Right Thing- Galatians 6:7-10

By Pastor J.J. | August 08, 2025
Key Verse: Galatians 6:9

“And let us grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”

Unfortunately doing the right thing is often overlooked in our culture today. The world no longer seems to care about your integrity. In the evil world that we live in today it is easy to throw up your hands and just altogether quit doing the right thing. In Galatians 6:7-10 Paul confronts this issue of doing good in an evil world. In V.7-8, he reminds of us an important truth. The truth there is simple. A man reaps what he sows. This is an old fashioned farming illustration that reminds us that whatever we plant that is what we will harvest. If we do evil deeds, we can expect evil and the judgment of God to come our way. If we do good deeds, and love others we will reap the love of God and eternal life. However, there is an issue with this. Life seems to teach that just because you do good, doesn’t mean you will receive good things. So is the Bible wrong? Absolutely not!! We must keep reading! In V.9, Paul reminds us that we must not grow weary while doing good, because eventually, in the right season we will harvest good things. Most crops are planted in the spring and harvested in late summer or early fall. There is a waiting period before the harvest. During this time of waiting the farmer is on a rollercoaster of different emotions. One day the weather forecast looks good, the rain is coming and he is happy. The next day it looks bad, and he grows anxious. It is a long wait and a lot happen before the harvest.

Our spiritual life is very similar. We do good things, and we often expect rewards for doing good to others and for  worshipping God, and we want those good things now. But Paul reminds us that we reap in due time, in the right season. When is the due season? It is whenever God decides it to be. For some of us it will not be in this life but in the next. We will experience an eternity full of joy, peace, and love. For others are due season may be right around the corner. We may experience blessings from God and peace with men, but the key is not losing heart. Church I want to encourage you to keep doing good to people even when you are experiencing evil. It is our calling, and we will have a great harvest one day!!
