Key Verse: Deuteronomy 31:8 “And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.” There will be times in our life when it seems that the day ahead of us will be too much to handle, the temptation will be too much to bear, or that the pain we are facing is too much to overcome. Joshua likely felt this way as Moses was nearing his death. Moses had been the courageous leader of Israel for over 40 years. Joshua was to be the next leader of the people. Sometimes we loo at someone leading a large business with 100’s of employees and we think how stressful that must be. Can you imagine being the leader of millions of people? They all look to you for not only spiritual guidance, but also physical protection. There is little to doubt as to whether Joshua felt overwhelmed. He certainly did. What did Moses tell Joshua to help ease his nerves? Moses reminded Joshua that God would be with him. He told him that God is one the who will go before you him. Every battle that Joshua would fight, every dispute among the people that he would mediate God would go ahead of Him fighting his battles or softening the hearts of those causing drama. I believe that this truth is something many of us need to remember today. We need to remember that God is going before us. He is clearing our path. Everything we will face today, God will be with us, and He will fight for us. Our job is to faithful and not let fear rule of our lives. Because God goes before us and is with us. Because God will never leave us or abandon us in the middle of the battle we can march forward trusting in His power and faithfulness!
