Key Verse: Psalm 86:11 “Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name.” As Christians one of our greatest desires should be to walk in God’s truth. We should desire to live a life that pleases and honors Him. Here in Psalm 86 the psalmist reminds us that if we are going to consistently walk in God’s truth then we must persistently pray about two specific things. The first thing we must request from God with persistency and consistency is that God would teach us His way. Some of us are reading this devotional and the reason we are not walking in God’s truth is because we are unaware of what God’s truth is. We must ask God to reveal to us what His truth is. As we do pray for this and seek God with a genuine heart, God will begin to reveal His truth to us through prayer, Scripture, and wise counsel.The second thing we must request from God if we wish walk in His truth is that God unite our heart in awe and fear of who He is. A lot of us are like the people of Israel at mount Carmel in the Old Testament. They had divided hearts, or as Elijah put it, the wavered between two opinions. Many of us are like that in our hearts. We want to give God certain things in our life, but other things we refuse to give up and hold on to. We refuse to give up certain sins and ideas. This is because we don’t fear God with our whole heart. Therefore we, like the psalmist, need to ask God to unite our heart in fear and awe of who HE is. Only when we seek God with a genuine heart, and fear Him with our whole heart can we walk in His truth! Pray this prayer today and watch your life start to change!
