Key Verse: Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.” In life we are constantly reminded that everything is temporary. We see that everything around us has its day in the sun and then it quickly fades to nothing. Fashion changes, popular paint colors change, popular baby names change, people change, and people even die. However in a world full of change we must always remember that some things never change. God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He doesn’t change His character, or His commandments. Despite our culture seeking to eradicate Biblical commandments and views from our schools, constitution, and even our homes, God’s Word remains the same. The life God calls His followers to live hasn’t changed, and it never will. The two words in this verse that stand out the most to me are, ‘stands’ and ‘forever.’ The word ‘stands’ reminds me that nothing can eradicate God’s Word, nothing can change God’s Word. What God has said is unchanging and will last for eternity. His Word doesn’t change with the times, it doesn’t become irrelevant due to what’s popular. It reminds the same and it is always relevant for our lives. This is what the word ‘forever’ reminds me of. If God’s Word is unchangeable and always relevant, then we should always be reading it. My challenge for you today is to take a few moments and ponder on the awesome Word of God and realize its relevance for your daily life, and then commit to reading it on a regular basis!
