Key Verse: Psalm 23:3 

“He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.”

Several devotionals back we looked at the first two verses of the most famous psalm, psalm 23. There we learned that God as our shepherd provides for us. Today we are going to look at V.3 and learn that God restores us and uses us for His glory. Just like a sheep who wandered of and gotten lost, all of humanity had willingly wandered away from God by choosing to sin. However, God sent Jesus as the good shepherd to bring back mankind. He did this by dying on the cross for our sins. Through His death, Christ took our punishment for our sins. Now we must simply believe that He died for us and ask God to forgive us based upon Christ’s death and resurrection. Then we are restored to God. We are restored to a right relationship with Him, and our hearts are again full of joy, and peace. 

As awesome as be restored to God is, there is more for us to do. God didn’t just restore us to Himself for us to sit around doing nothing. God wants to lead us in the life. That is one of the primary jobs of the shepherd. He leads the sheep. He chooses the path they will take and the sheep willingly walk that path. God has a path for all of our lives, each person’s path is unique yet all paths are for the same purpose. As we walk down the path of righteousness God has for each us He receives glory. That is the purpose of all of us share in this life. We’ve been restored to God, not for no reason, but rather to be used by Him, to follow His path which brings Him glory. The problem is that so many us fight God. We fight with God by refusing submit to the path He has for us. Make a commitment today to submit to God’s Will in your life! He’s a good shepherd!
