Key Verse: 1 Chronicles 16:34 “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” Throughout my life I have met a lot of ungrateful people. I have seen people ungrateful for the sacrifice their parents made to give them a better life, I have seen people ungrateful of the freedoms we have in America. I have also seen people that were ungrateful for the grace and mercy God shows us each day. In this verse from 1 Chronicles we are commanded to give thanks to God. But maybe you are reading this and you are wondering why we should give Him thanks? The author gives us one simple reason God is good. As I look back at my life I see God gracious loving have everywhere. As I do this I am led to give Him thanks. James reminds us that every good thing we have comes from God. He is only capable of giving us good things. All the bad things in our life are a result of our own sinful actions or are due to the devil’s attacks on us. God is good. Despite this you may be going through a dark season in your life, and you are struggling to see the God’s goodness. The author here reminds us one of the ways God is good. He is good to us because His mercy towards us endures forever. Mercy means not getting what you deserve. God’s mercy endures forever towards those who love Him. This doesn’t mean you woke be disciplined at times, rather it means that God will never totally forsake you and turn His back to you. He is a loving merciful God. Take a few minutes today and praise Him for His abundant mercy!
