“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.” 

 

At some point in life everyone will be afraid. Some people have actual phobias such as a fear of tight spaces, fear of spiders, fear of darkness, or even a fear heights. While some of us have certain phobias that at times rule our lives, I believe all of us struggle with more common fears such as: death, losing our job, having enough money to provide for our family, or just fearing what the future may hold. Some of us don’t want to admit that we are fearful at times, but everyone is fearful at some point. Even David the man after God’s own heart was afraid at times. I think of him hiding from Saul in the wilderness for so many years, not knowing if Saul would find him in the night and end his life. I think of the fear that tried to work its way into his heart as he stood up the giant, Goliath. David, however, overcame his fears. How did he do this? He did this by trusting in God. 

 

This is so simple yet so profound. We have a God who loves us and has a plan for mankind. Instead of being full of fear and doubts, we should trust in God’s goodness and plan knowing that all things work for good to them that love Him (Rom 8:28), even if we don’t see that at the time. Fear can be conquered by trusting in the name of Jesus. No matter what your facing today trust God and allow Him to be your rock!
