Key Verse: 2 Chronicles 15:17 

“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” 

 

Working for Jesus is the most rewarding work we can do in this life. As we do we sense God’s presence, God’s delight, and even His strength as He gives us the ability to keep going. Despite all of this sometimes we still want to give up. Oftentimes as we share the gospel with others and see no response we get tired, and discouraged. As we continually try to live for Jesus and not give into to worldly values and temptations we get lonely. It’s often hard, tiring, and lonely doing the right thing. This is certainly how king Asa felt. However if we were to keep reading this story we would learn that these words spoken by the prophet served as fuel to the fire that kept Asa serving God and working for him. 

 

Friends as we serve God in this life we must remember that God sees our work. He sees our heart behind the work, and He will reward us for the work we do for Him. The rewards may not come in this life, but they will certainly come in the next life. Our service here is not without reward, it’s not without purpose. We have a heavenly reward awaiting us and our job is to work for Jesus here and now. I hope this verse and these words add fuel to your fire and encourage you to keep on serving God! It’s worth it!
