Key Verse: Proverbs 4:23 “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” I’ve spoken with alot of people throughout my short life of 27 years. Many of the people I’ve counseled and spoken to have problems that they wish to fix. I too have had problems and sins in my life that I’ve wanted to fix, however, many people don’t understand that addictions, mental health crises, and sin in general doesn’t just ‘happen.’ All sin, no matter the type begins in the heart. Jesus reminded us of this when he spoke about how the things with defile us come from within. If our hearts are impure and have wicked desires then are deeds are sure to be evil. This is why Solomon writes that we must guard our hearts with all diligence. The heart is something we must constantly evaluate and pray about. Because naturally our hearts are very wicked which is why we are reminded by the prophet Jeremiah that we should never trust our heart. Since our hearts are naturally inclined towards wickedness we must be extremely diligent to make sure that our desires align with God Word, and God’s Will. If we allow our hearts to be corrupted by the desires of the world then we will reap the consequences of worldly living. Everything we do or don’t do in our life is dependent upon the state of our heart. If our heart is desiring God we will live for Him, if it is desiring the fleeting pleasures of the world we will indulge in all types of sinful behavior. What’s the status of your heart? If your living in sin today the Reason is because of you have allowed your heart to lust after the world. Pray and ask Jesus to change your heart, to purify your heart! Only then can you begin to live for Him!
