Key Verse: Proverbs 10:9 “He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known.” I have often heard it said that integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking. It seems that we live in a society today that has completely lost all of its integrity. Everywhere I look I see people who are indulging in public and private sins alike. Solomon here reminds the reader that the one who walks with integrity will safely walk through life. It seems to me that the idea here is that one who walks with integrity will have a good name. He will have a good reputation as one who seeks the Lord, and loves people. The sad part about this, is there are a lot of people who appear to love the Lord and love people, but in all reality they lack integrity. Solomon says that these types of people, people who pervert the way of the Lord, people who continually live in ‘secret’ sins, their way will become known. This means that who they really are, the actions they participate in when no one is looking will one day be uncovered. Paul speaks of this as well in 1 Corinthians 4:5, “Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.” The works of those who have no integrity are oftentimes brought to light even in this life. However, a day is coming, where all those who live in ‘secret’ sins and have not integrity will be revealed. God will judge them. God gets the final say. God knows the intention of the heart. My challenge to you today is to be a person of integrity. Be the kind of person that does the right thing even when no one is looking. That is the type of person who establishes their way according to God’s Word!
