“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.” 

 

Where do you go when the enemy attacks? Where do you go when the storms of life are raging out of control? Where do you go when the depression and anxiety seek to pull you under? Some people run to the bottle, others to earthly pleasures, and others turn to friends or even to secular therapy for help. There is truly one safe place to run. Only one safe place that can endure the storms and attacks of the enemy. That place is the Lord. Here in Proverbs 18, Solomon reminds us that the Lord’s name is a strong tower. What is a strong tower? In the ancient times a strong tower was a fortified building. Usually tall, and nearly impenetrable. It was a place to hide from thieves, and other nations during times of wars. It was a safe place. We are reminded here that if we will run to God. We will be safe. How do we run to God during times of trials and attacks from the enemy? 

 

We run to God by crying out to Him during difficult times. We run to God by remembering the strength He has, and that He is strengthening us when we cry to Him for support. Other ways we can to run to God is reading Scripture, and through genuine prayer. The Bible is God’s book, and by reading His Word He supernaturally works in our lives and hearts. Through prayer we connect with God and He reminds us of His plan, and comforts us in difficult times. Friends, when life gets heart run to God for safety!
