Key Verse: Psalm 55:22 “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” I believe that Monday is without a doubt the most dreaded day of the week for most people. After a few days of relaxation and fun you have to get up early and go to work. You have to see the boss you don’t like again, deal with that annoying coworker, and catch up on paperwork and other things that have piled up over the weekend. Monday often carries with it drama and anxiety. In Psalm 55 David wasn’t overwhelmed because it was Monday, but because he had a close friend who had betrayed him and this friend was plotting against him. However, David also understood that every person has various different trials and aspects of life that are a burden to them. Thus he wrote that we should cast our cares on God. What does this mean? It means that on this Monday morning, the things that have you stressed out, the things that are burdening you, you should take a minute and give those things to God through genuine heartfelt prayer. Tell Him how you are stressed, annoyed, and overwhelmed. When you do this, David says that God will sustain you. What does this mean? It means that when you cast your burdens on the strong shoulders of the Lord, He takes your burdens, and gives you the strength to get through the day. This is not an promise to immediately fix all your problems, rather it is a promise to help you deal with them and give you the endurance to keep going. The second promise is that God will not allow you to be moved. When the Christian seeks God and seeks God for help, God promises that He will not allow that Christian to be overwhelmed by whatever their burden is. God will not allow the river of worry, stress, or temptation to overcome you! Praise God for this wonderful promise! He cares for us! Throw your burdens on Him today!
