Key Verse: Psalm 141:5-6 

“For still my prayers is against the deeds of the wicked. Their judgement are overthrown by the sides of the cliff, and they hear my words, for they are sweet.” 

Modern day Christianity loves to emphasize grace, mercy, and forgiveness. These are most certainly great characteristics of Jesus, and while we should model them in our daily life I feel that many Christians have forgotten that God is also a God of justice. Our God hates evil! All throughout Scripture we are remind that God hates evil and the evil doers. He desires that they be saved, but until their repentance they are God’s enemy and under his perfect hate. We have observed that Psalm 141 is a prayer to God. We have seen how David begged God to hear Him, begged God to help him guard his tongue and also asked God to keep him from following the ways of the world. Now David is praying that the wicked fall! He is praying that they face the just consequences for their actions! This is something we should model in our own prayer life. We should most certainly pray for the salvation of the lost, but at the same time we have a duty to pray that God would justly judge those who love wickedness, and hate His ways, and His people. David prays that their judges are overthrown and that God deals with them. 

In our culture today we see a lot of wickedness. We don’t have to accept it, or act as if its normal. We can and should pray that God judges wickedness. Take a few minutes today to pray about one wicked thing that you have seen on the news. Maybe its the war in Iran, that God would end the death and that wickedness would be extinguished in that area of the world. Maybe its for abortionists, that God would judge them, maybe its for the crooked and corrupt politicians that God would deal justly with them. As you pray this prayer for justice, pray also for the salvation of the lost! The two go hand in hand!
