Key Verse: Psalm 141:5 

“Let the righteous strike me; it shall be a kindness and let him rebuke me; it shall be as excellent oil; let my head not refuse it.” 

There is a beautiful truth for us to learn in this passage. It is simple, yet profound. We should learn to love accountability from our Christian brothers and sisters. David actually prays that God would send people into his life that would rebuke him when he fell into sin. We all need others who in a spirit of love will hold us accountable! Even people who love God and read their Bible can fall into heinous sins, and this is more likely when there is no accountability. The reason so many of us don’t like accountability  is because we have grown calloused to a lot of the sin in our life and don’t want to change. We don’t want to acknowledge our sin or repent of it and the thought of having someone approach us about makes us cringe. We say things like, ‘don’t judge me’, ‘mind your own business,’ but rarely will we acknowledge the sin and repent of it. That is what is needed! David says that the rebuke that a righteous man gives him is like fine oil for his head! He understood the value of it, and understood that he needed accountability and rebuke from other followers of God! 

My challenge to you today, is to find some accountability partners. Don’t let everyone be your partner, but find other Christians who you trust, love, and that love you and do life together with them. Pray with them, talk with them and be honest with them. When you sin and they call you out for it, let them, and love them for it! We need ACCOUNTABILITY!
