Key Verses: Psalm 141:9-10 

“Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, and from the traps of the workers of iniquity. Let the wicked fall into their own traps while I escape safely.” 

We have finally made it to the end of this beautiful psalm of David. The final stanza of this prayer hymn is an awesome one. We see that David prays and asks God to keep him away from the traps of his enemies. Over the years, David had learned that not every opportunity was a God sent one. Some of them were actually traps laid by the enemy. As king David would have many enemies. Some of them would be within the walls of Israel, and many of them would be other kings seeking to attack Israel. He asks that God would deliver him from their snares. A snare is a type of trap that the animal never really knows is there. It is often placed on a game trail, a place where the animal frequently walks, and suddenly they find their neck of foot in a in a knot that gets tighter the more they try get away. David here is praying a very specific prayer. HE is praying that God helps him navigate the roads of life that are full of snares. Some of them he sees, and some of them he doesn’t see. David is truly asking for discernment. To be able to recognize the snares of the devil. 

WE must do the same thing in our life. The devil along with those he has deceived and led away from God are laying traps all around us. We must pray that God gives us the discernment to recognize traps laid by enemy and avoid them. They are all around us! There are snares on social media, at the workplace, at the gym, at the coffee shop. The devil is always trying to get us to fall into sin! We need to recognize his snares! Take a few moments today and pray that God give you the discernment to recognize the snares of the devil!
