Key Verses: Isaiah 55:8-9 

““For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways”, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” 

Last night Oanh and I got the news that U.S. Embassy in Vietnam declined her mom’s request to come visit us this summer. We were a little bit shocked. We did all the paperwork, and payed the fees to even attempt to get her here. Her mom attended the interview with all her paperwork and written reason for leaving which even included a letter from us stating we wanted her to come for a visit. Despite all of this, they declined her entry. We were upset, angry, and just didn’t understand why this was happening. We had prayed that she would be able to get here, yet God didn’t answer our prayers the way we wanted. As talked last night and shared how we felt about it all we can conclude is that it wasn’t in God’s timing. As I continued to think about it last night and this morning these verses from Isaiah came to mind. God’s thoughts and ways are truly beyond our own. He sees the big picture, the entire future, while we get stuck focusing on the present. All we can do is trust in God’s sovereignty and His goodness. 

This truth applies to the life of every believer. We all have situations in our life where things don’t go the way we had hoped and planned. Whether it’s losing our job, not getting that raise, not getting accepted into the college we wanted to attend, a relationship ending, we all get hit with unexpected realities in this life, and its normal to wonder why. However, sometimes we will never really understand because God’s ways are higher than are own. All we can do is trust that God is at work and He’s doing something awesome even when we cannot see it or understand it! Have faith in God even when you don’t understand!
