“A good man obtains favor from the Lord, but a man of wicked intentions He will condemn.” 

Some people are really good at gaining favor from others. There are certain people that everyone wants to be friends with, that everyone wants to help and be around. It could be because of their personality, their looks, their money, or a vast number of things. While there is nothing wrong with receiving favor from people, as Christians we should desire to receive favor from God above all else. We should want to please God and desire Him to shower us with favor in this life. This favor doesn’t always come in the form of financial blessings, or worldly possessions. Sometimes this favor comes in the form of peace, joy, and fulfillment. How is that we can gain this favor? 

Solomon tell us in Proverbs 12:2 that the way to obtain favor from God is by being a good person. That sounds simple, and it some ways it is, but one must remember that none of are inherently good. The Bible tells us that none are righteous, no not one. The only way to be a good person is by first of all developing a relationship with Jesus Christ. We develop this relationship through faith in His death, burial, and resurrection. Then God begins to work on our heart. He changes our desires and our actions and only then can we become a consistently good and moral person. If we try to do this on our own, we will consistently and continually fail. Only when we are consistently bearing the fruits of the Spirit in our life, taking care of the needy, and worshipping God do we find true favor from God. Only then will have access to peace, comfort, joy, and contentment that is only accessible if God graces us with His favor! Live for Him today and experience His favor!
