“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” 

 

People want a lot of things from God. They want money or material possessions. Others want God to give them perfect health and the longest possible life. Then there are some people who desire an easy life with no bumps in the road. While none of these things are inherently bad, I want two things from God above all else in my life. They are the same two things that God tells David that He will do for him. First of all I want God to instruct and teach me. I want God to continually and consistently show me His ways. I want Him to reveal more and more of His truths and His character to me through His Word. In short, I want God to teach me. 

 

Second of all, I want God to guide me. The biggest mistakes I’ve made in this have happened when I wasn’t walking in God’s plan. I got off of His path and began walking my own way. I thought I could guide myself, and then I walked towards ruin and hopelessness. On the contrary, when God is guiding me, when His eye is showing me the way to go that is when I am the most content. That is when I am living my best life. That doesn’t mean it’s the easiest life, but it does mean it’s the life that brings God glory and it brings me hope and peace because I know that I’m walking with God. Friends pray that God would do these two things for you. Pray that He teaches you, and that He guides you! You won’t regret it!
