Famous for your Faith - Romans 1:8 

Key Verse: Romans 1:8 

“First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.” 

As people we have a natural tendency to want to be known. We want people to praise and celebrate us for our accomplishments, talents, and beauty. This desire leads some people to go into a midlife crisis of sorts because when they get to their 40’s and 50’s they realize that soon they will die and likely be forgotten. They will never attain the fame and notoriety they long for. At the start of his letter to the church at Rome Paul says that he constantly gives God thanks for the them. One of the primary reasons for this thanksgiving is that the faith of this church is spoken of all around the world. That is awesome! This church is not famous for a large building or big bank account. They aren’t famous because a celebrity goes there. They are famous throughout the world because of their faith. Everyone knew that the church at Rome took their faith seriously. They were living for Jesus by resisting temptation, and loving others. They were serious about sharing their faith with others as well. People knew about that church in Rome. 

Church, I don’t want our church to be known for a nice building or pretty flowers. I don’t want our church to be known for drama, or even having a big budget. I want our church to be known for our faith. Faith in God during hard times. Faith in God that leads us to obedience. Faith in God that leads us to share the gospel! For this to happen will have to do our part! Be faithful!
