Key Verse: Psalm 43:3 

 

“Oh, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your tabernacle.” 

 

There is an old hymn we sing at our church sometimes called send the light. It’s a hymn that all of us love to sing. It is hymn of prayer really. As we are singing this hymn we are crying out to God that He would send out the gospel light so those who are blinded by the devil might see the glorious light of Christ and find salvation. In Psalm 43 the psalmist also cries out for God to send the light. Here however the Psalmist cries out that God sends His light, not necessarily for others to see it, but rather for God’s light and truth to lead him in his daily life. I believe that this is a prayer that we too should pray each day. It is so easy to be led by other things in life, things such as money, selfish desires, or worldly ambition. Because of this and because of our own weakness, we must make sure to cry out to God each day for His light to guide us so that we are headed in the proper direction. Where do we end up going when we follow God’s light and truth? 

 

The psalmist says that when we follow God’s light and truth, they will lead us to His tabernacle. In the Old Testament before the temple was built the tabernacle was where God dwelt. When we follow God’s light and God’s truth we end up in His presence. I believe that a lot of Christians do not experience the true presence of God because we are following the wrong things. WE cannot follow the ways of the world, and expect to really truly experience the life changing power of God’s presence. So I ask you today, what are you following? Are you experiencing God’s presence? If not, then you need to ask Him to send His light and truth so you can follow it, and it will lead you right into His presence! We often see God’s light as we look into the pages of Scripture! Ask Him to send His light through the pages of His Word!
