Key Verses: 2 Corinthians 5:9-10 

“Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or a absent, to be pleasing to Him For we must all appear before the judgment sat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” 

What is something you aim to do everyday? Maybe you aim to love your children or do a good job work. While those are both noble things to try and do each day there is something we should strive for even more than those things. Our goal each day should be to live a life that is pleasing to God. This was Paul’s goal as he makes abundantly clear in 2 Corinthians 5:9. How do we live a life that is pleasing to God? We can please God in our life consistently by resisting temptation, sharing the gospel, and by loving others. Despite it being very simple to please God many lack the motivation to do it. Paul gives us all the motivation we should ever need in V.10. There he reminds us that we all must stand before Christ’s judgment seat. This is not the white throne judgment that is mentioned in Revelation. That judgment is reserved for nonbelievers. This judgment seat that Paul mentions is reserved Christians. It is here that Christ looks at the works we have done and rewards us accordingly. 

As a result of this reality we should all be motivated to live for Christ. I don’t want to stand before Christ ashamed of how I lived my life. Instead I want to stand before Him knowing that each day my goal was to please Him. I want to challenge you to this morning to take a look at your life. Is your goal to please God in everything you do? If not, then let this devotional on these awesome verses of Scripture motivate you to start living to please our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
